In June, the Karnali river once again overflowed its banks and flooded several villages. Many people lost everything as homes, livestock and possessions were washed away. In one village alone, 167 homes were lost. Some people also lost their lives.
We are in the process of building some concrete, raised platforms upon which homes can be built in these flood effected areas. The October team to Nepal installed part of the first platform for a family who had lost their home 4 times in past years due to flooding. Many local villagers came out to assist with the building process, but the man for whom the platform was being built just sat on the ground and watched. He has run out of hope that there will ever be a solution that will save his home.
